Revolutionary Movement free essay sample

The explanations behind the American Revolutionary Movement are various and various; be that as it may, one explanation remains above them all: financial aspects. Since the time the primary pioneers started to colonize the United States, financial aspects have been available as the establishment for the nation. Our general public today is gotten from cash matters similarly as it was in the time previously and during the Revolution. The British battling the French and Indian War was a base for solid monetary changes that prompted the Revolution. This was firmly trailed by the Declaratory Act that permitted the burdening of the provinces and the Intolerable Acts made by the British. We will compose a custom article test on Progressive Movement or on the other hand any comparable subject explicitly for you Don't WasteYour Time Recruit WRITER Just 13.90/page They all had solid impacts in the financial matters of the nation that prompted the Revolutionary War. In 1754, the British battled the French for the last of four wars in what we know as the French and Indian War. It was a battle to see who might run in North America, and it was in the long run won by the British. Regardless of their triumph, the British were constrained into obligation, and their answer for receive in return included a certain something: burdening the colonies. This prompted the arrangement of the Greenville Taxes. Two of these, the Quartering Act and the Stamp Tax, brought mayhem from the settlers. The Quartering Act constrained the homesteaders to house and feed British Soldiers with no extra cash given to them. A large number of the homesteaders didnt have the cash to take care of the fighters, so it made them venture into the red, which influenced the monetary side of the networks in light of the fact that the individuals were getting so poor. After the Quartering Act, the British welcomed on the Stamp Tax.This was the main direct duty on the settlers, and it got them all aggravated up. A gathering known as the Sons of Liberty was framed and they drove a blacklist against the British burdening asserting that there ought to be no imposing taxes without any political benefit. The assessment changed the financial aspects of the provinces, making them lose cash quickly, yet the blacklist returned reprisal against the British. Since the British were done getting cash from the homesteaders to take care of their obligation, their accounts were enduring setting off the cancelation of the tax.The Sons of Liberty spoke to the ruler about the Stamp Tax, so the lord revoked the expense utilizing the D eclaratory Act. This demonstration despite everything permitted the ruler to burden the states, and he utilized that reality. One year subsequent to passing the Declaratory Act, the lord brought around the Townsend Act and put an expense on dead, paper, paint and tea, as these were the things most monetarily essential to the homesteaders at that point. After much discussion, all the charges were denied aside from the one on tea.Nevertheless, the harm to the economy of New England was done, and the abundance of the nation was declining quickly, incensing the settlers. The pilgrims in the settlements didnt concur with the British taking the entirety of their well deserved cash, thus they were gradually developing to the American Revolution in reprisal. This prompted the Boston Tea Party which was by and by skewer headed by the Sons of Liberty. Britain ere furious with the homesteaders wrecking all their tea, and as opposed to giving the settler what they needed, they lifted the duty cost on the tea an d made them pay for what they had demolished. By and by the economy was dropping in light of the fact that the entirety of the cash was heading off to the British. With each demonstration performed by the British that included cash, the pioneers were getting angrier with their homeland which made them strike back. The last demonstrations made by the British were the genuine turn. These are known as the Intolerable Acts, and they are what at last carried the pioneers to the Revolution. The Intolerable Acts are comprised of a few things done by the British, yet the two that had the most effect were the ones that included money. The British passed the Boston Port Bill which shut the port in Boston. This crushed the economy as the homesteaders could not import anymore or send out merchandise from perhaps the greatest port. It caused swelling in costs and a mob inside the settlements. Effectively irate with the British, the homesteaders currently observed everything that England did as indefensible and motivation to battle. Another of the most compelling Intolerable Acts was the expansion quartering of troops. This happened on the grounds that the sanction expressing that the settlers no longer needed to house fighters Was renounced, and more soldiers were sent to monitor the over-driven homesteaders. Raging with outrage at by and by paying for them, yet at any rate one other individual too, every homesteader was at last tossed over the top, and they began to battle to pick up their own nation. From the time the British battled the French in the French and Indian War to when they instated the Declaratory and Intolerable Acts, financial aspects turned into the fundamental power driving the homesteaders into the American Revolution. Not just did England attempt to exploit the new provinces to acquire cash, however it appeared to disregard the way that it was tossing the individuals into obligation. Giving the entirety of their cash to Britain, the settlers got maddened, so they retaliated and it prompted the American Revolution. Financial aspects were and are critical to each nation, so it is justifiable that expansion in costs and higher charges could have driven the American Revolutionary Movement, and it is much simpler to acknowledge that it was what basically headed to pilgrims to start retaliating.

Critical Lens Essay

Fyodor Dostrevsky stated, â€Å"Fear is just the outcome of each lie.† This statement implies that you aren’t terrified of the activity you made yet you’re frightened of the activity that will be made toward you as a discipline. This statement pleasing on the grounds that a great deal of when an individual lies there intuition right then a there, the dread of what’s going to transpire when reality comes out is the thing that rebuffs you the most not simply the genuine result it’s. Fyodor Dostrevskys quote is clear altogether night Part by R.L.Stine and The Crucible by Arthur Miller on the grounds that in every wok of writing they all need to confront the outcomes of lying and the dread of their discipline. Through Abigail in The Crucible by Arthur Miller she can identify with the statement since she dreaded what might befall her in the event that she disclosed to Bettys father Reverend Parris what truly occurred in the forested areas. So to spare her self from the difficulty that would lie ahead for her on the off chance that she told reality she accused everything for Tituba. This is clear to the contention man versus society since she wanted to mislead spare her self from getting into whatever discipline the town of Salem would set for her which would be something along the lines of being whipped or stoned. This identifies with the basic focal point since it shows what happens when you dread the results of the falsehood all the more then the genuine untruth its self. Taking all things together night party by R.L.Stine the untruth that was told from Patrick when he tells his gathering of companions was that the cut on his hand was truly from the wrecked window. Patrick can identify with the basic focal point since he dreaded the outcomes of his untruth which would be him going to prison for executing Cindy. This is like the contention individual versus individual in light of the fact that there was an issue among Patrick and Cindy that finished with Patrick slaughtering her. At long last he admits to his bad behavior and was placed into prison. Fyodor Dostrevsky stated, â€Å"Fear is basically the result of each lie† I discovered this statement pleasant in light of the fact that in The Crucible you see what somebody would do just to not look there discipline because of lying which would be individual versus society. Throughout the night party shows a model what happens when you falsehood and afterward come clean, which would be individual versus individual. Each work of writing has its own feeling of contention. The Crucibles struggle was Abigail lying about what Betty, Tituba and herself did in the forested areas. That she accused on Tituba. On the whole night party they manage the passing of their closest companion.

Police Corruption How Bad Is It And How Does It Affect...

Jacquelynn Lefebvre Van Ardoy Schweitzer SEP Period 6 15 September 2014 Police Corruption: How bad is it and how does it affect our perception of the United States legal system? The broad or basic dictionary definition of corruption is dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power, typically involving bribery (Corruption |Usage Example Sentence, Pronunciation, Web Definition | Google Dictionary.). My definition of corruption is the same, but my definition of corruption in law enforcement is different. This is my definition of corruption in law enforcement; when officers of the law are apart of officer misconduct and corruption which are abuses of their police authority. The misconduct and corruption refer to a wide range of†¦show more content†¦Who would you believe, the alleged criminal in an orange jumpsuit or two well-groomed police officers in uniforms who just swore to God they are telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. The honest answer is a lot of people would assume that once a person is arrested for a crime th ey are guilty and that is before they are being officially charged with a crime. People in the U.S. are innocent until proven guilty. Nine times out of ten they did what they are being accused of, but sometimes it just looks really bad. You would have to be crazy to accuse an officer of lying. But the question is still there are police officers undoubtedly more trustworthy than an alleged criminal? No, they are not. Police officers have a tendency toward confabulation [confabulate: to fabricate imaginary experiences as compensation for loss of memory]. Officers also unsettlingly enough, have an incentive to lie. Now a days with all of the mass incarceration, the police shouldn’t be trusted any more than any other witness. Corruption is not just in law enforcement, it is also in our judicial systems. A common belief of corruption in the judicial system is a judge taking bribes. The judicial corruption definition goes beyond that theory. A judicial system that is corrupt is either not

Music Macro Environment free essay sample

Taking classical music as an example the complete opposite can be observed. Here, only 1 1 % of young people listen to it, whereas it is the second highest n he 65+ category. (Taylor, 2009) Figure 2. [2] (Taylor, 2009) This is important for the music industry to know, as there is a change of generations in our society today. While the earths population is getting older and older, but not enough children are born, there might be a change in music interests. However, it is not empirically proven that as soon as one gets old, one automatically starts listening to classical or country music. The first category generation in the figure below, will most likely take their music tastes with them and the generation after that will probably have different tastes. (Mixed. Nil, 2004-2009) Stitching Brain is an anti-piracy organization that fights for the rights of authors, publishers, performers, distributors and producers of music, film, books etc. BRAIN, 201 1) In the Netherlands there is a music copyright organization called Bum/Stemma. It consists of two organizations: Bum association and Stemma Foundation. They each have their own board, but they have their meetings together. Music is property of composers and writers. If people want to use their music, they have to pay for it. Burn/Stemma receives this money and gives it back to the affiliated music composers and writers. Bum/Stemma is founded to protect music copyright. When someone makes a new and original song, its his or her intellectual property.Music copyright needs to be covered by this concept of intellectual property. Music authors have the right to exploit their music so that they can earn money. They have to give others permission to use their sic. Music authors are allowed to ask for money if others use their music. Music authors have a personal connection with their music. They can object someone who wants to change the music drastically or if someone uses their music in a movie that they think is dubious. The performing artists and the producers also have their rights. They can ask for compensation if someone else performs their song, if a song is involved when CDC and records are produced, and if their song is played on the radio. These rights remain for fifty years after the first performance or production. Music copyright remains until seventy years after the death of the music author. (Bum/Stemma, n. D. ) According to section 13 of the Copyright Act, downloading of copyrighted digital content is like copying. Every form of downloading is making a copy. The right holder must give permission if someone wants to copy his content.Downloading is legal if someone wants to use it privately. It is regulated in sections bob and ICC Of the Copyright Act. Consumers are allowed to download content from peer to peer networks, websites and social networks, without the permission of the right holder. Anyone is allowed to make a copy or private use only if it fulfills the following conditions: Firstly, the content must be made by natural persons and not by businesses, institutions or organizations. Secondly, the content may not be for direct or indirect commercial aim. Thirdly, the content must be only for private practice, study or use. Also, the number of copies is limited. (Hugged et al. 2009) Economic It is a truth universally acknowledged that a lot of people use peer-to-peer file sharing and illegal downloads to obtain wished albums or singles and one could wonder how this influences the music sector. In general, the change room the physical distribution to digital distribution can be observed clearly throughout the years. In 2006, 307 million Euros were made by selling CDC (could also contain Alps and tapes), whereas in 2011 it had declined by 7. 4 % to 201 million Euros. At a closer look, one can see the biggest decline in the singles market where the total of sold singles only made a 1 million Euros profit. Compared to 5 years earlier, music videos also declined a lot; to 21 million Euros compared to 53 million 5 years earlier. There has also been a change with the albums, but not as radical as with the other two parts of the hysterical market Even though the amount earned on albums in 2011 is almost half of what was made in 2005, it is safe to say that people still like having an actual physical thing in their hands. Figure 2. (PricewaterhouseCoopers, 2009) As stated above, the opposite can be observed with the digital distribution. Compared to the Start Of the Internet era in 2005, the increase Of music bought online is major. The sales went from 5 million Euros to 40 millions, which means an increase of 200%. This total is divided into two parts, namely the Internet and mobile phones. As stated in the chapter about the genealogical changes, not only the Internet has become more prominent, but the opportunities that phones now provide us with enable us to buy and download music through these mediums, too. This means that in 201 1 10 million Euros were gained through purchases via mobile phones. (PricewaterhouseCoopers, 2009) Figure 2. 4 (PricewaterhouseCoopers, 2009) It should be noted that the figures used from 2009 and further on are only estimations and not actual figures. Technological New technology has been responsible for the growth of the music industry. First it was the LIP that everybody wanted, after the LIP the stereo dominated. A whole new market came to life with prerecorded cartridges and cassettes. But in the beginning of the 21st century, CDC dominated unit sales, leaving cassettes and Alps behind. But since the last four years, Internet is a big part of buying music. But it is not only buying music. Internet is also used for downloading the music illegally or only listening to the music on the Internet. (Cigarillos ; Scheme, 2003) The digitization of the consumption of music is still growing. The increase in the digital market is very important. Digitization has been influencing consumption, production, creation, striation, and also the artist, record company, publisher, live entertainment and consumer. The behavior of the consumer has changed because of technologies. Because of digitization, there is more globalization. The Dutch music industry benefits from the economies of scale of countries like the United States and Great Britain, who have been very successful internationally. Long tail and niche markets are easily accessible and inexpensive. Digital files are 24/7 on demand available for the consumer. Upcoming talent can upload tracks. The costs for the production of digital according are much lower.Retail costs can be saved by direct sale to consumers (online stores, download portals, artists websites) and online selling (tracks, CDC, DVDs, rhinestones, realtors, wallpapers, tickets, merchandise). Internet distribution is almost for free and environmentally friendly because products dont have to be transported. Promotion can also be used in a cheaper and easier way (social media, blobs, e-marketing). More and more artists are actively using international digital opportunities. They launch themselves through social networks such as Youth, Twitter, Backbone, Linked. The fans can just as well be living abroad. Through these social networks, fan sites and music sites, the consumer is accessible. There is new and direct contact. The consumer has opportunities for individualizing and customizing (buy individual tracks, make playbills, make CDC with their own personal choice of music, upload their own content or participate in a co- production). Foreign music is already available, fans dont need to wait for the release in their own country. It is possible to experience digital performances (bedposts, voodooist, audio or video streams). An active fan can provide rendition for the artist via the Internet. (Karaoke ; Fiction, 2009) Figure 2. 5. 1 (Exam, LILTS, 2007) Socio-Cultural The music industry has a lot of targeted genres that appeal to different kind of people. Those genres often subdivide. For example, rock music can split into soft rock, pop rock, heavy metal, modern rock, alternative rock, industrial, techno, punk, ask and jam bands. Music is one of the instances in which audiences are able to see and hear cultural products from outside the country. English pop and rock have had a strong presence and influence since the sass. Its easier for musicians from the Netherlands and other countries to break into the biggest music market in the world, the US market, because they are able to use social media and the Internet. People have more access to listen to different genres. They dont have to rely on the radio or the music shop. (Starboard et al. 2011) Figure 2. 53 (Exam, LILTS, 2007) Figure 2. 5. 2 (Exam, LILTS, 2007) Lots of music has influences from earlier music. There is also a lot of music that is influenced by new sources of music such as African and Asian music. Many cultures have their own styles of classical music and popular music.

Principles and Practices of Effective Leadership (Apple Inc) Essay

Principles and Practices of Effective Leadership (Apple Inc). Leadership Portfolio - Essay Example Each leader adopts a unique approach and style, through the interplay of one’s traits, intelligence, behavioral set, authority, power, temperament and charisma. Within an institution, there develops an emphasis on implementing leadership skills and abilities that are relevant across the organization. This cultivates the ‘leadership style of the organization’. Let us delve in to an analysis on leadership at Apple Inc. (formerly  Apple Computer Inc.), an American  multinational corporation that designs, develops and sells  consumer electronics, computer hardware, software and personal computers. The powerful visionary, Steve Jobs, was the co-founder of Apple Inc. along with Steve Wozniak. They went on the establish Apple as one of the world’s giants, with an unconventional approach and leadership style that was starkly different from conventional business wisdom. The predominating leadership approach at Apple Inc. was that of ‘Transformational Lea dership’, wherein Steve Jobs (the leader),  identified the need for  change,  created  a vision amongst his people to enforce the change and  finally, ensured its enforcement with the  unfailing commitment  of the  members  of his company. (Bryant S., 2012)... At a review session, Jobs was quick to grab a ‘Magic Marker’ and draw a two-by-two grid on the board, labeling each quadrant sequentially as â€Å"Consumer†, â€Å"Pro.†, â€Å"Desktop† and â€Å"Portable†. He insisted that Apple focus on just four great products (one for each quadrant), cancelling all other products. Steve Jobs is known to have said to Walter Isaacson, â€Å"Deciding what not to do is as important as deciding what to do. â€Å"That’s true for companies, and it’s true for products.† (Issacson, 2012). The Apple Company under Steve Jobs, developed a ‘perfectionist style’ with an eye for great detail. The success of the company lay in the fact that Jobs recognized his own strengths and delegated areas suited to other people’s strengths, so that only the best product emerged from its shores. Steve Jobs was a driven leader and the products and services he directed his company to develop and commercialize changed the way many of us live, as well as the course of a diverse set of industries, including computing, publishing, movies, music and mobile telephony (Katzenbach, 2012). Undoubtedly, the success of Apple Computers under Steve Jobs stemmed from his creativity in decision-making, charismatic leadership and the ability to take risks in order to adapt to changing market conditions. As testimony to Apple’s creativity, Steve Jobs himself famously said â€Å"innovation distinguishes a leader and a follower†! Both, situational factors and the leadership approach of Steve Jobs contributed to Apple’s success. By selecting Steve Jobs to lead the company, Apple was not only able to improve its performance, but also position itself to take advantage of the opportunity

Read and answer question - Essay Example Both the organization and its shareholders need returns for their investments and when such is not achieved then change is inevitable. 2. What is the primary type of change needed- Changing things or changing the people and culture. Can the Wisconsin plant be saved by changing things alone, by changing people and culture, or must both be changed? The primary type of change needed for Wisconsin plant is for people and culture. With some current Wisconsin employees telling of how their fathers worked for the same plant, calls for a change in the people. Once people get used to a place, they reduce the quality of production, which could be the contributing factor towards the competitors almost producing better quality than Wisconsin plant. It is also clear that Wisconsin employees are the most paid compared to the others. The culture of the union determining their pay should, therefore be changed too in an urge to reduce the plant’s high production costs. 3. What do you think is the major underlying cause of the Union’s resistance to change? If you were Jim Malesckowski, what implementation tactics would you use to try to convince union members to change to save the Wisconsin plant? It is evidently clear that if no change is made, then the Wisconsin plant will have to close down due to the high operational costs. If I was Jim, I would dialogue with the union be telling them that if change was not achieved then the plant would close down. In the event that happens then all the employees would be jobless. In changing to a save culture, the union members would benefit in that despite the reduction in their salaries, they would still retain their jobs, other than letting the plant close down leaving all of them jobless as a result of the high operational

Toyota Knowledge Management

Toyota Knowledge Management In present, most of the management professionals and academics have distinguished knowledge as a significant source of competitive advantage. Potentially, it is a substantial resource to a firm as it includes precious, unusual, unique and non-commutable features and an implicit aspect. Importance of knowledge is increasing day by day in the society and due to this a shift is occurring in individuals thinking regarding business innovations. These innovations can be technical, process or product innovation and strategic or operational. Innovations due to knowledge-based organizations are occurring all over the world and similar is the situation with Toyota Motor Corporation that is discussed in this report. In this report, existing knowledge management practices of Toyota Motor Corporation is discussed along with the interventions that it can use to improve its present KM practices and strategies. In this report, intervention proposed for Toyota is the use of KM as a management tool. As well, here, elements that are essential for effective KM strategy are also given so that the company can develop a new and much more effective KM strategy to deal with its existing KM flaws. The report provides all inclusive information about Toyotas past knowledge management strategies and some new effective strategies that it can used to make effective use of knowledge and its related aspects. Introduction The field of knowledge management has developed in concern to the management of the data, information and knowledge within an organization and as well as employing it to gain competitive advantage (Armistead 1999, p. 143). Knowledge management basically comprises of procedures and tools to efficiently captivate and share data. As well, it is also related to the potential use of knowledge of individuals within a firm. From last several years there have been serious discussions on the significance of knowledge management (KM) in our society (Hicks, Dattero Galup 2006, p. 19). Almost all researchers, scholars and management science professionals agree that substantial transformation had occurred and management of knowledge had become crucial. The excessive business operations failures, due to the traditional modes of operations have intensified the significance of knowledge and its management (MaÊrtensson 2000, p. 204). In the increasing competitive situation, KM and associated strategy concepts had become essential and significant components for present organizations to survive and maintain their position in the long run (Armistead 1999, p. 143). Due to the significance and advantages of KM, it has become vital for executives and managers to deal with KM and related strategies. Nowadays, it is considered as a precondition for attaining higher productivity and flexibility in both the private and the public sector firms due to its significant advantages (MaÊrtensson 2000, p. 204). Toyota Motor Corporation also makes use of knowledge management for managing its different business operations and processes. With this the company has become able in gathering, organizing, sharing and analyzing its knowledge in regard to resources, documents, and people skills. Here, in this paper the current role of KM in Toyota will be analyzed along with the specific recommendations in the form of new interventions will be presented to the company. This will enhance companys ability to manage all its resources in a way through which, it can enhance its knowledge organization and sharing (Wiig1997, p. 7). Existing Knowledge Management Plan of Toyota Motor Corporation Toyota Motor Corporation has attained immense growth from the time of its initiation and with this the company have also confronted several troubles related to expansion and its management. In starting the company use to develop and produce cars only in Japan and export in some abroad countries but with increasing demand and globalization it started operating in several different foreign markets. With this increase in its operations base, the company confronted troubles related to management of its resources. For resolving this trouble the company made use of knowledge management as it become aware with its significance and need (Ichijo Kohlbacher 2006). The company operations started growing significantly and in this concern it also made use of several advanced approaches like lean production, total quality management etc. All these approaches assisted the company in attaining a significant place in emerging markets. In addition to these approaches, the company also understood the significance of knowledge and its use for company and its employees management (Armistead 1999, p. 143). The company understood that managing knowledge among its organization is essential and for this it adopted several knowledge management approaches like development of knowledge sharing networks and use of tactic knowledge (Pena 2002, P. 470). Knowledge Management The company management is aware with the fact that the creation of knowledge is not only an aggregation of information but it is a distinctive human process that cannot be decreased or replicated easily. The company management tries to alter data into information that can be used a knowledge for all by collection, organizing, summarizing, analyzing, synthesizing and making final decision (Alwis Hartmann 2008, p. 134). Management of Toyota is also aware that effective management of knowledge is essential that includes knowledge creation, sharing, security, and abandonment (Wang Ahmed 2005, p. 327). All this relies on enabling context that can be developed with the help of significant knowledge enablers that are as follows: Introducing a knowledge vision Handling conversations Displacing knowledge reformers Establishing appropriate context Globalizing local knowledge (Ichijo Kohlbacher 2006). All these knowledge enablers are introduced by Toyota that evidences its knowledge management practices. Although Toyota Motor Corporation has adopted a significant approach towards knowledge management and knowledge sharing but still it is not able to effectively manage knowledge among all its resources (Towill 2010, p. 335). Nowadays, the company is operating in different foreign markets but still it is not able to improve its production efficiency and quality and it is all because of lack of knowledge management and knowledge sharing (Bailey Clarke 2000, p. 236). The company management has still not gone through the fundamental issues of knowledge sharing or organizational learning that are key drivers behind a firms significant attainments. For attaining assured success in 21st century it is essential that its leaders develop intellectual capital with the help of knowledge creation and sharing on an international basis. The company had to work hard in the direction of knowledge sharing as its main issues are related to knowledge sharing. If company adopts effective approaches and networks it can easily resolve its issues related to knowledge sharing that in turn will render it with competitive advantage (Pena 2002, P. 470). For successful execution and operations, it is essential that the Toyota Motor Corporation significantly improves its knowledge management issues. Without this, it would not be possible for the company to manage its leading position in the long run as now knowledge has become crucial for running a business successfully (Randeree 2006, p. 145). The company had effective knowledge management plan but it is lacking at some aspects that if improved can deliver it with substantial advantages of knowledge management and business operations management (Jost 2010). Knowledge Management Interventions for Toyota Motor Corporation Toyota Motor Corporation that is the Japans largest company and the worlds second leading automobile company is known as the worlds paramount knowledge company (Jost 2010). Till now, the company has three times, won the Global Most Admired Knowledge Enterprises (MAKE) Survey 4. As well as, it is also a five-time winner of the MAKE Japan Survey. This award is given for the unique practices in the field of Knowledge Management. These awards were given on the basis of measures like knowledge-based culture and products, knowledge sharing and cooperation and organizational learning (Bateman n.d.). All these aspects were managed effectively but still the company need to take extra efforts as it is lacking in some aspects of knowledge management. The most substantial aspect that needs to be improved is sharing knowledge and it can be done only if knowledge management is used as a management tool. The most substantial KM intervention that can be used by Toyota Motor Corporation is the use of KM as a management tool (Jost 2010). By making use of knowledge management as a management tool, the company can effectively improve all its existing flaws of KM in regard to its business operations. In addition to this by understanding the concept of intellectual capital also the company can improve its KM practices. The company management needs to understand that KM is a vital part of the wide concept intellectual capital because KM itself is about the management of the intellectual capital. Intellectual capital can be understood with the help of two terms strategy and measurement (MaÊrtensson 2000, p. 205). Strategy pertains to the formation and utilization of knowledge and as well on the association between knowledge and value creation (Rao 2005). Other aspects of intellectual capital that is measurement concentrates on the development of new information systems that are proficient to measure non-financial data along with traditional financial data (MaÊrtensson 2000, p. 206). The abstract bases of intellectual capital that can be used by Toyota can be understood in this figure. The company management should try to make attempts for exploring the creation and use of knowledge in a way through which it can be leveraged into value as given in the figure. By managing intellectual capital the company can significantly enhance its existing knowledge management practices and improve the flaws in KM. This will also assist the company in making use of KM as a management tool that is essential for making it effective in all aspects of a business (MaÊrtensson 2000, p. 206). Knowledge Management as a Management Tool: Usually, KM is depicted as a management tool but it is made up of two aspects in which first is KM as an informational handling tool or operational tool and second is as a strategically focused management tool. By managing KM as operational and strategically focussed management tool, Toyota can easily increase knowledge sharing and organizational learning among its business processes (MaÊrtensson 2000, p. 209). If company and its management handle both the aspects of KM, it can significantly attain all essential benefits of KM for its business and its assured growth. Knowledge Management as an Information Handling Tool In the field of knowledge management, knowledge is usually considered as an information handling trouble. It basically includes the formation, organization and utilization of knowledge (Morey, Maybury Thuraisingham 2002). Toyota Motor Corporation also need to use KM as an information handling tool that can be done by managing different but associated stages. In the first stage, the company should acquire information and in the second stage the collected information should be entered into storage system and then need to be structured rationally (MaÊrtensson 2000, p. 209). KM is all about the attainment and reposition of employees knowledge and making this information available to others so that they can also use it. This can be done by making use of several advanced technologies like Internet and databases. In this way, the company can transform tactic knowledge to explicit knowledge that can be used by everyone for increasing their efficiency and productivity (Rao 2005). By storing information in several company databases the company need to initiate third stage that is related to make stored information accessible to maximum employees of the firm (MaÊrtensson 2000, p. 209). Knowledge Management Stages This third stage is related to the maximum delivery and use of information. In the last stage, the company management can significantly utilize information. This process of information utilization can be commenced by employees sharing knowledge and socialising with each other. As well as information can also be utilized or shared through digital and in analogue pattern. Knowledge Management as a Strategic Management Tool: The next substantial aspect of KM that needs to be managed by Toyota is KM as a strategic management tool. It is said by management professionals that effective knowledge management begins with a strategy. In concern to a KM strategy, knowledge is distinguished as a most valuable and less used resource (MaÊrtensson 2000, p. 210). For improving knowledge sharing and existing knowledge management practices, it is essential that the company improve its existing KM strategy as it plays a substantial role in successful knowledge management. For creating an effective KM strategy, the company need to develop systems that significantly capture and reassign internal knowledge into unique practices. The company management need to consider all of its aims, objectives and anticipated results in regard to KM as it varies for organization (Rao 2005). Sometime, KM can be worked out as a way to enhance performance, productivity, collaboration and competitiveness and sometimes it may be used for meliorating effective attainment, sharing and utilization of information within the company (MaÊrtensson 2000, p. 210). In addition to this it can also be used as a technique for enhanced decision making, a tool to captivate unique practices, a way to become an innovative firm etc. The purpose of employing and using KM should be clear as in this way only the company can effectively manage its KM practices and strategy. By working on all these things, the company can develop an effective KM strategy (Reimer Karagiannis 2006). Recommended Strategies for Implementing Proposed Interventions For implementing proposed interventions, the Toyota Motor Corporation needs to consider following elements and strategies: Interrogative Questions and Assessments: First substantial element that should be included by Toyota at the time of creating and implementing its KM strategy is interrogative questions and assessments. The company management should associate its KM strategy with what it wants to attain as well as with it aim and objectives. This can be done with the help of interrogation and assessments of different aspects like what company want to attain and in which aspect it wants improvement (MaÊrtensson 2000, p. 211). How its KM strategy will render it towards benefits and increase in employees performance etc. By identifying the answers of all these questions, the company can develop an effective KM strategy. Effective Communication: In most of the companies effort to implement KM strategy, a significant problem that has occurred is about ineffective communication. For successful implementation, effective communication is essential and similar is the case with Toyota (Hlupic 2003). For its successful KM strategy implementation, the company should develop an effective communication plan that should be flexible enough to adopt changes in communication pattern at the time of critical business decisions. Well developed communication plan will also help the company in increasing its knowledge sharing and becoming a learning organization (Morey, Maybury Thuraisingham 2002). Top Management Support: For successful implementation of KM strategy, it is essential that the company management have significant support from its top management. The company management should try to convince top management for promoting procedures that will prop up learning and sharing. Top management should be convinced in a way that it helps in setting-up fund knowledge networks and promotes further improvements (Reimer Karagiannis 2006). If, Toyota become able to receive full support from its top management it will substantially become able in developing and implementing a successful KM strategy (MaÊrtensson 2000, p. 211). Significance of People and Culture: The next substantial element in concern to the development and implementation of an effective KM strategy is people and culture. Successful execution of KM is significantly associated with a firms people and culture. The management of Toyota also needs to develop an effective association between its KM strategy implementation its people and culture. By focussing on its employees and their significant role, the company can have a distinctive KM strategy implementation (MaÊrtensson 2000, p. 211). The company that concentrates on its people and culture are much more able to attain its goals in comparison to the firm that concentrates more on technology. This should also be understood by Toyota and then only it will become proficient in the thriving implementation of its KM strategy (Jasimuddin 2008, p. 59). By understanding that the people and culture plays a central role in the creation of thriving knowledge based firm the company management can easily resolve all its people and cultural related issues. These issues are vital to be handled in a timely manner as otherwise it may direct company towards several disadvantages (Morey, Maybury Thuraisingham 2002). Adoption of Creativity: The next substantial element that should be considered by Toyota for improving its existing KM practices is the inclusion of creativity as it is vitally linked with strategy. By establishing a link between strategy and creativity, the company will become able in maintaining its position in the long run (Hlupic 2003). By associating KM and creativity, the company management can attain business creativity so it is essential to consider creativity at the time of developing a KM strategy. Creation of Learning Networks: One more critical element of KM is the creation of learning networks so that employees can learn from each other and maximize their knowledge. By creating learning networks, Toyota can also resolve its existing troubles of knowledge sharing and becoming a learning organization (MaÊrtensson 2000, p. 212). In present employees of the company are not so focussed but by evidencing them KM benefits, they can be encouraged for the development of learning networks. Significance of Sharing Knowledge: Another important element that needs to be included by Toyota at the time of developing and implementing its KM strategy is sharing knowledge. The company strategy is lacking in concern to this element and should work hard for improving it and including it in its KM strategy. Nowadays, it is seen that employees does not prefer to share their knowledge with other due to increasing competition (MaÊrtensson 2000, p. 211). Management of the company should try to build a positive environment in which everyone like to share knowledge with others so that they can increase their knowledge (Liebowitz 1999). In this concern, the company management should try to share existing knowledge with its new and present employees through groups discussions and regular seminars. They should try to develop an open and flexible environment in which everyone has intensity to increase its existing knowledge base. By adopting these approaches employees habit of sharing knowledge can be intensified in a significant way. Appropriate Incentives to Employees: The next critical element in regard to KM strategy is the creation of appropriate incentives for employees to share and implement knowledge. In present, Toyotas reward system does not support its sharing knowledge culture so by making changes in it, the company can improve its troubles related to sharing knowledge. The company management should try to develop a reward system that encourages its employees to use their expertise and understand the importance of KM (MaÊrtensson 2000, p. 212). All aspects related to employees and their knowledge sharing should be involved in company reward system as it may come from any level of organizational structure (Despres Chauvel 1999, p. 112). Effective Evaluation System: The last substantial element that is vital to consider is the employment of effective evaluation system for evaluating the efforts made in the direction of making use of KM. The creation of system can range from informal to formal system. Toyota should also develop effective evaluation system so that all its knowledge practices and strategies can be evaluated in a timely manner and deliver effective use of KM (Reimer Karagiannis 2006). By following all these elements, the company can develop an effective KM strategy that in turn will assist Toyota in sharing knowledge and creating a learning organization. KM as a management tool will direct Toyota towards the development of successful KM strategy and implementation (Liebowitz 1999). Conclusion With the help of above discussion, it becomes evident that the Toyota Motor Corporation needs to improve its existing KM practices and strategies. For this, the company should adopt suggested interventions that are related to use KM as a management tool. By making use of KM as a management tool the company will become able in resolving its difficulties related to operation and strategy (Reimer Karagiannis 2006). KM as a management tool will serve the company with an ability to handle its information handling issues and becoming strategically focussed (Quality Counts 2008). In this way, it can be said that Toyota should adopt the above discussed interventions and should try to develop a new and effective KM strategy. For the development of effective KM strategy the company should consider all the above discussed elements as it will render it with specific and distinctive approach to KM and its utilization. By adopting recommended strategies the company can develop a new and more effective KM strategy that will help it in resolving all existing KM related issues like knowledge sharing and becoming a learning organization (Liebowitz 1999). The proposed interventions will direct Toyota Motor Corporation towards the development of effective and distinctive KM strategy.

Dementia: Forgotten Memories Essay -- Dementia Condition and Symptoms

While the average life expectancy of the world’s population has increased, the number of detected dementia cases has commensurately risen to astonishing levels. Along with improved discovery of this disorder, new causes and treatments have been found, from which many innovative techniques have been developed towards the prevention of future incidences and reduction of the effects of this condition; however, the quest for these solutions have raised more questions than it has answered. Why do some develop this disorder, while others do not? Can early detection be achieved to reverse the processes or limit its effects? Further specifics on these topics have been categorized into three main sections, which include: 1. Dementia – Condition and Symptoms 2. Causes of this Disorder 3. Treatments and Cures Dementia – Condition and Symptoms â€Å"Dementia is the progressive deterioration in cognitive function - the ability to process thought† (Nordqvist, 2009, para. 1) and can be separated into two main categories: cortical and subcortical, physically speaking; for example, Alzheimer’s disease is a type of cordical dimentia, while Parkinson’s disease is classified as subcortical in nature. Many of the people suffering from these afflictions, which are usually middle-aged and older, appear to lose the ability to recall particular events, time of day, or in more advanced stages, the identity of their friends and family. Other symptoms of this condition have been reported as difficulty with speech, depression, balance issues and general disorientation. Causes of this Disorder Although Alzheimer’s disease appears to be the most common cause of dementia, â€Å"more than 50 conditions are associated with dementia, including degenerative ... ...g conditions that mimic the outward signatures of dementia, which were thought to be reserved for Alzheimer’s disease, or other mind altering conditioned patients. It has been shown that depression, while treatable and not directly related to dementia, can exhibit the very same signs and should be carefully examined and studied before rushing to judgement. Caledonia Leas or Buy Essay

Describe factors Caledonia must consider if they were doing a lease versus buy Sense Caledonia is thinking of introducing a new product, the company must decide whether to lease or buy. Caledonia is in the 34 percent marginal tax bracket with a 15 percent required rate of return on cost of capital, the new project being a fad will only be a for five years. When deciding to lease, Caledonia must consider how reducing out of pocket cost could benefit the company. Though leasing would mean they do not fully own the product. When leasing, Caledonia must consider the rates that will be used in the cost of leasing. The company’s credit rating will determine if they will receive a good rate on their lease. Another factor is will the company have enough income to pay the lease as necessary. Many investors consider having current paycheck stubs providing proof that the expenses will be covered. In most cases the lease is not up until the product expenses are paid in full. Until expenses are paid in full the leasing company owns the product. Another factor they must consider is the income budget that determines how much product the company will be able to receive. The company should make sure the products have values and is able to provide sufficient income. The company should always consider having a back-up plan in case a payment is missed. When buying a product, the company has the option to own it. The advantage of buying a product is that they are brand new in most cases, and have the best value offered. In many cases, the best prices offered too. For example, after purchasing a product in a store, the cashier gives the customer a receipt. After a receipt is given the product is now owned.

How to Write a GCSE Speech

How to Write a GCSE Speech At GCSE level students are often asked to write a speech and present it within certain time limit before their class. The speech has to be informative, grammatically and stylistically correct and compelling. As practice shows, some students get baffled on getting such a task, as they have little idea how to set about writing. However, given that they keep in mind some basic tips, they are sure to succeed. First of all, if you have an opportunity to choose the topic for your speech, focus on the areas that you are interested in, since it is always easier to speak about something you are accustomed with. As long as it meets your teacher’s requirements, it can be on virtually any topic imaginable. In case you are given a particular subject, it would be a good idea to brainstorm the topic and gather material from various sources – Internet, magazines and books. It will help you single out the arguments that you should include in your speech. When writing your speech, ensure it has a clear-cut structure – introduction, main body and conclusion, as this pattern is logical and easy to follow. Address the audience directly and remember that a little bit of humor is always appreciated, since it helps to jerk up the listeners. Avoid using too long sentences and a lot of scientific terms, or you will lose your audience. Lastly, ensure that the first sentences of your introduction capture the interest and that your conclusion reaches a certain aim – to call for action or entertain. All in all, do your best to prepare a speech that is both engaging and well-reasoned. Most importantly, however, practise your speech at home and try not to read it, as there is nothing worse than a monotonous presentation!
